Biggest achievement: The closing of a $50-million private placement.
Best skill: Problem solving.
Most admired businessperson: Bill Gates for pioneering the mass marketing of software.
Biggest business lesson learned: The importance of cash to a company. I saw the company through a successful restructuring. During the course of this critical event, I maintained relationships with creditors and suppliers, formulated a new, disciplined approach to managing cash flow, which has, in recent years, enabled Webplan to maintain an excellent cash position and profitability, while following an aggressive strategy for growing the company and obtaining a market leadership position.
Favourite charity: CHEO
Professional recognition that would mean the most: To speak to university students about the lessons I have learned in my professional career.
