Hany Guirguis, 39
EOD Performance Inc., President
Biggest achievement: As president and co-founder, I was instrumental in tripling EOD's revenues in one year and in parallel-closing EOD's $18-million acquisition by Vanguard Response System.
Best skill: Perseverance in making sure our bomb disposal robot works perfectly in theatre and remains the number 1 choice in its class.
Most admired businessperson: Doug Molnar, our volunteer CFO, shows integrity and commitment to excellence in everything he does.
Biggest business lesson learned: Understanding what our customers need and working with them to build it. We learned this lesson in our first days designing robots. Working with the RCMP and the technical team at Homeland Security gave us insights into their needs, allowed us to meet their requirements, opened the doors for us to suggest ideas and forged a strong relationship with our customers.
Favourite charity: Having served as treasurer for the St. George and St. Anthony Church since 1998, I feel most connected to them.
Professional recognition that would mean the most: I would be happy to be recognized by Canadian Bomb Data Centre for leading the development of an affordable bomb disposal robot that saves lives.
