John Arthur Gorman, 36
PACE Public Affairs & Community Enterprises, , Founder and senior partner PACE, publisher, The Ottawa Insider
Biggest achievement: : Establishing PACE as a profitable company. PACE demonstrates to me that I can create something of real value for customers on my own terms.
Best skill: Relationship building.
Most admired businessperson: Adam Chowaniec for being a respected business leader who is actively involved in the Ottawa community.
Biggest business lesson learned: Diversify, the best client should not be the only client. Even the best service provider can lose a customer to factors that are beyond its control (or the control of the customer, for that matter). Nurturing a clientele from diverse sectors is essential to building a business that can handle downturns or unpredictable events.
Favourite charity: The CHEO Foundation.
Professional recognition that would mean the most: To receive the United Way community builder award.
